WiseWill.ca is operated by 1232216 B.C. Ltd. in British Columbia, Canada. Our designated Privacy Officer is responsible for privacy questions, access and correction requests, and complaints.

Please describe your request without sending a will, financial account numbers, identification documents or sensitive family information. If we need information to verify your identity, we will explain what is necessary first.

Your analytics choice

Optional Google Analytics helps us understand which pages and tools people find useful. If you allow it, Google receives page addresses and titles, browser and device information, cookie identifiers, approximate location derived from your IP address, and general actions such as using a calculator or clicking the worksheet download.

This is not anonymous data. Cookie identifiers can distinguish a browser. Google says GA4 uses IP addresses during collection and does not log or store those IP addresses. We do not send calculator answers, results, checklist selections, email addresses, URL query strings or fragments in our analytics events. Referrers and advertising signals are disabled in our site configuration.

If your browser blocks the analytics script, these controls may be unavailable and analytics does not run.

Analytics is off unless you have previously allowed it.

We remember your choice on this browser for up to 180 days. We honour Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track by keeping analytics off. When storage is blocked, analytics stays off. Turning it off stops future collection by this site and removes its accessible Google Analytics cookies; it does not automatically erase data already received by Google.

What stays on your device

Calculator inputs are held in the open page. The executor checklist saves its ticked steps in this browser's local storage under ww-executor-checklist so they remain on a return visit. Use its Clear button, or clear this site's browser data, to remove them. Anyone using the same browser profile may see saved ticks.

The analytics choice is stored under wisewill-analytics-v1. With your permission, Google can set cookies named _ga and _ga_…; our configuration limits their lifetime to 180 days. Browser restrictions may shorten that period.

A downloaded or printed worksheet is your own copy. Store it securely and share it only with people you choose. Your device, PDF app, browser synchronisation or cloud-printing service may have separate privacy settings.

Hosting and essential technical data

Vercel hosts the website. Delivering pages and preventing abuse can involve your IP address, browser headers, requested URL, request time, response status and diagnostic information. This happens even when optional analytics is off. Avoid putting personal information into page URLs.

Vercel may process information outside Canada, including in the United States, under its service terms and privacy policy. Technical logs are subject to Vercel's retention and security settings; we do not promise that all hosting records disappear when you close the page.

Email and the former waiting list

New kit waiting-list signups are closed. The former form collected an email address, signup time and originating page in private Vercel Blob storage for a one-time kit announcement. The connected waiting-list store contained no signup records when checked on October 5, 2026. If you previously signed up, contact our Privacy Officer to withdraw your request or ask about access, correction or deletion. We will not turn a kit request into consent for unrelated marketing.

If you email us, we receive your address and whatever you send, and our email service providers process the message. Incoming mail is routed through ImprovMX and then the mailbox used by our Privacy Officer. We use correspondence to answer you, manage your request and keep necessary records. Email is not a secure place to send estate documents.

Sharing and international processing

We do not sell personal information. We use service providers for hosting, optional analytics and email; those providers process information for these services. Information may be processed or accessible outside Canada and may be subject to local legal demands. We may also disclose information where required or permitted by applicable law, including to respond to a valid legal demand or protect the service.

There are currently no ads, affiliate links, account registration, payments or session-replay tools on WiseWill. If we introduce a new purpose that needs consent, we will explain it and obtain that consent before using information for it.

Retention and safeguards

We keep information only while needed for its stated purpose or a legal obligation. We review correspondence when a request is resolved and remove unnecessary personal details. Records needed for an unresolved request, dispute or legal requirement may be kept longer.

Google Analytics is currently set to retain event-level data for 2 months and user-level data for 14 months, with the user period restarting on new activity. Standard aggregated statistical reports can remain longer. Withdrawing analytics consent affects future collection. Contact us about information already held; locating an analytics record may require the relevant browser identifier, and a browser identifier does not necessarily identify a named person.

The site uses HTTPS and access-controlled provider accounts; former waiting-list files were stored privately. No online service or email system can guarantee complete security. If a privacy incident occurs, the Privacy Officer will assess and contain it, document the response, and notify affected people or regulators where required by applicable law.

Your rights and complaints

You can ask what personal information we hold about you, how it has been used or disclosed, and request access or correction. You may withdraw consent or request deletion, subject to applicable legal exceptions and retention requirements. These rights are not an unconditional promise to erase every record immediately.

Send a written request to the Privacy Officer above. We will respond within the applicable legal time limit and explain any permitted extension, refusal or fee. Under BC’s Personal Information Protection Act, the usual access-response period is 30 days excluding Saturdays and holidays as defined by the Act; permitted extensions may apply.

If you are dissatisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia. The Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada handles matters within its federal jurisdiction.
